A recent developer AMA hosted by BioWare has shed light on potential updates for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While fans may see class buffs in the near future, the addition of a New Game Plus (NG+) mode remains off the table, according to Corinne Busche, the game’s director.
Released on October 31 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, the latest installment in the Dragon Age series has already received multiple updates. The most recent patch, Patch 4, was launched on December 4 to coincide with Dragon Age Day. The AMA, held on the r/DragonAge subreddit, offered fans an opportunity to engage directly with the developers, yielding several insights into the game’s current state and future plans.
Class Buffs and Gameplay Balance
Busche revealed that the team is actively monitoring class balance in The Veilguard. While some tweaks are under consideration, they are more likely to involve buffs than nerfs. This aligns with BioWare’s focus on enhancing gameplay experiences for players.
No New Game Plus Mode Planned
Addressing fan requests for an NG+ mode, Busche explained that while it was considered during development, the feature was ultimately excluded. She emphasized that there are no plans to add NG+ at this time, a decision consistent with the series’ design philosophy. No Dragon Age title to date has featured a New Game Plus, partly due to the ease of reaching level caps in a single playthrough.

The AMA also revealed some interesting telemetry data about player decisions. According to Busche, the pivotal choice between saving Treviso or Minrathous has resulted in an evenly split player base—an outcome that surprised the development team, which expected Treviso to be the dominant choice.
Additionally, fans hoping for an increase in the console save limit beyond three slots may be disappointed. Busche confirmed that the possibility was explored but is unlikely to be implemented due to technical constraints tied to the game’s save file architecture.
No DLC Plans
In response to earlier fan speculation, BioWare recently confirmed that The Veilguard will not receive any DLC. The studio appears focused on refining the core game experience through updates like the recent Patch 4.
With a commitment to gameplay balance and player engagement, BioWare continues to refine Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While some requested features like NG+ and additional save slots are not in the cards, the potential for class buffs and continued updates ensures that fans will have plenty to look forward to as they explore the world of The Veilguard.
